- The current Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike has been on for over six months
- Industrial action by higher institution unions in Nigeria has become a recurring decimal
Nigerians are tired of the back-and-forth accusations between the federal government of Nigeria and ASUU.
ASUU’s national chairman, Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi was on Channels TV Sun Ride Daily programme and gave some reasons why the strike is still on.
“It is not enough for people to continue to blackmail ASUU . . . ASUU has been the life-wire for the system in the last 20 years or so.
“All we have heard so far are promises. And our members are tired of promises.
“Young people are also our children . . . what we are doing as a union is to enhance the quality of their certificates.” – ASUU Chairman, Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi during @sunrisedailynow on Channels TV.
It is sad that Nigerian youths are having their productive time being wasted away due to the crack between the FG and ASUU.
