- Outgoing United States President, Donald Trump will be addressed as former American president in some hours from now as his tenure ends today
- The last days, weeks and months of the Trump adminstration were marred with chaos especially the blame on him having knowledge about the Capitol Hill terrorist attack
President Trump might have his personal problems and political challenges, however, he was seen by his millions of supporters as a dogged fighter, who believes in putting the interest of Americans first.
Some persons facing prosecution have been granted pardon by President Trump as he leaves office Wednesday, January 20. Among these pardoned persons are singer, Lil Wayne and a former White House aide, Steve Bannon.
According to information obtained, no fewer than 150 Americans facing different federal prosecutions were granted clemency by the Trump presidency.
One other major decision President Trump has taken in his last days in the Oval Office was to revoke Executive Order 13770 regarding lobbying by government officials.
“Trump just revoked the executive order that banned administration officials from becoming lobbyists within five years of leaving government.” Ben Jacobs (@Bencjacobs) wrote on his Twitter handle.
Peter Baker, the Chief White House correspondent for New York Times also had his say on revocation of the Executive Order 13770 as he stated that “shortly after pardoning congressmen and lobbyists convicted of corruption, Trump releases an order at 1:07 a.m. revoking his own ethics executive order from 2017, freeing his own former aides from the limits he had imposed on their ability to lobby the government.”
Going back to the issue of pardons, the likes of Julian Assange and Edward Snowden were not granted pardon.
What will be the next move of the soon-to-be former American president? There are news reports that Trump will likely float his own political party after dumping the Republican Party.
