- A former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has officially decamped from the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
- Otunba Gbenga Daniel was Ogun state governor between 2003 and 2011 under the platform of the PDP
The two term governor of Ogun state was the campaign manager of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the 2019 presidential elections.
On the part of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, he informed Nigerians that one of the reasons for moving to the APC was to support the current governor of Ogun, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s strive towards making the Southwest state better.
A good number of Nigerians have reacted to the defection of Daniel from PDP to APC, stating that almost all Nigerians do not have a concrete political ideology.
Atiku Abubakar is yet to comment on the change of party of his campaign general at the 2019 polls.
There are reports that some chieftains of the PDP will also decamp to APC ahead of the 2023 general elections.
