It was further gathered that Mourinho told Levy last night that he was not comfortable with Spurs playing in the European Super League, the aftermath of which led to the sacking of the Portuguese gaffer.
Other sources have it that Mourinho was shown the door not just because of his stance against the European Super League, but because he was not playing Gareth Bale regularly.
Following the dismissal of Mourinho, 29-year-old Ryan Mason will take charge as caretaker manager before the appointment of a new coach.
